Crisis Com: Handling the optics of high-profile events
Class Description

Crisis Com is a specialized course created for local and county government agencies. The program is a candid deep dive into crisis communications. It is the only course where the instructor is a former Department of Homeland Security official.

Given the power of social media, the 24/7 news cycle and an insatiable appetite for salacious stories, law enforcement agencies are now asking themselves, "Not if, but when…" This is prompting many municipalities to reevaluate how they might handle the optics of high-profile events ranging from an active shooter to an internal act of malfeasance.

Crisis Com was developed to cover critical points to prepare for a crisis and navigate through it during and after. The course has been developed as a ½ day course and is adapted for staff, collateral duty PIOs, executives and elected officials. The curriculum is drawn from actual case studies and uses multimedia to illustrate messaging.
