Terri Perez has been a Deputy District Attorney for 26 years, and has been assigned as the Chief of Narcotics for the past three years. Prior to this assignment, she served as the Assistant Chief of the East County Branch for four and a half years, where she was responsible for handling all informant/1040 issues. She worked in the Gang Prosecution Unit from 2005-2009, handling gang crimes involving robberies, assaults and murders. Before that, she filed Gang Injunctions against criminal street gangs from 1997-2005. She has experience prosecuting Narcotics cases involving large scale narcotics operations, wiretaps and recently implemented overdose death prosecution protocols within her office. She has taught Advanced Gang Prosecution and Basic Narcotics for ICI, Informants and Overdose Death Prosecutions for CNOA, and teaches quarterly for the San Diego Sheriff’s Office on Handling Informants. She received the CNOA Prosecutor of the Year Award in 2019.
