Craig Michaels began his law enforcement career in California in 1980. Most of his career was spent as a Special Agent Supervisor with the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement. Mr. Michaels spent over twenty two years working undercover investigations on both the State and Federal level, and has been teaching classes for law enforcement professionals since 1983.
Mr. Michaels has taught classes throughout the United States, and internationally, and is a recognized expert in the areas of Informant Handling, Undercover Operations, Surveillance, and Illegal Drugs.
Mr. Michaels has been on the training staff of the California Department of Justice Advanced Training Center, American River College, Sierra College, The Midwest Counterdrug Training Center, The Regional Counterdrug Training Academy, The California Narcotic Officers Association, WSIN, and The Northeast Counterdrug Training Center. He has made training videos and taught for The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, The Blackwater Corp., and has provided training overseas on behalf of the U.S. State Department Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program.
Mr. Michaels was the recipient of the California Narcotics Officers Association Officer of the Year for the Sacramento Region in 2004, is a former Regional Chairman, and has been a member of CNOA since 1984. Mr. Michaels is President of Hands Up Inc. and currently works as a contract employee for the United States Postal Inspectors Service.
